Apple has added a page to its website for deregistering and turning off iMessage for users that have switched from an iPhone to an Android device or other non-Apple smartphone. The new web-based tool arrives after Apple faced a lawsuit over Android users having undelivered text messages from other iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users still using iMessage. For those that have switched to another smartphone and no longer own an iPhone, the website provides a field where you can enter your phone number, receive a confirmation code and enter that code to confirm your iMessage deregistration....

Apple today has launched an official repair program for a small number of users experiencing an issue where their iPhone says “No Service”. This issue seems to be specific to the iPhone 7, according to Apple. Over recent weeks, several users have taken to Twitter to say that their iPhone 7 have all of a sudden gone from having normal service to “No Service.” This issue has been reported by users since last year, though....

Sneaking in with the major product releases today, Apple has started selling its Mac Pro Afterburner Card as a separate purchase. When the Mac Pro first launched, the Afterburner Card was only an option to purchase when configuring the machine as a $2,000 upgrade. Today, Apple has launched the accelerator at the same price but with the flexibility for customers to add it at any time to their Mac Pro if they didn’t buy it up front....

Apple is making a notable change to how it handles repairs for users suffering from keyboard problems with their MacBook and MacBook Pro. The company will now complete keyboard-related repairs in-store, as opposed to shipping them off to repair centers. Apple last week sent a memo to Apple store employees, explaining the new repair process. The memo was first obtained by MacRumors and is entitled “How to support Mac customers with keyboard-related repairs in store....

With Apple expected to switch to OLED screens for future iPhones, it appears that it may not need to rely completely on the two major manufacturers for long. While Samsung and LG currently manufacture most of the world’s OLED screens between them, Nikkei reports that Sharp expects to be doing the same ‘before 2018’ … If true, that would potentially make it a third supplier for iPhone displays. It’s not yet clear whether Apple plans to switch to OLED screens for all iPhone models, or only for some....

Two months ago Apple announced 96% of its worldwide energy now comes from renewable sources and also pledged to reach 100% by getting its supply chain to invest in renewable energy. Today Apple has announced it is issuing a $1 billion green bond to further its renewable initiatives… As reported by Bloomberg, last year Apple offered the largest green bond in U.S. corporate history at $1.5 billion. Now, just about two weeks after President Trump decided to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement, Apple has issued another $1 billion bond to help move the company and its supply chain to 100% renewable energy....

Apple appears to have hired yet another former Tesla engineer to join its ever growing automated car team. First noticed by Reuters, Apple has hired Jamie Carlson to likely join its car team. Carlson’s LinkedIn profile reflects that he has left Tesla and joined Apple, although his role at Apple is simply listed as a a member of a special projects group. While at Tesla, Carlson worked on its Autopilot self-driving program....

Roughly one year after spending $3 billion to acquire Beats, a speaker and headphone company cofounded by music industry veterans Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine, Apple has officially revealed its all-new streaming music service built on that massive acquisition. Apple Music, as we first reported the subscription music service would be called, is the company’s answer to on-demand music services like Spotify. As part of the 2014 acquisition, Apple gained its own subscription music competitor in Beats Music, although the new Apple Music service is the company’s first to be built by the Cupertino company....

The latest Apple patent filing tells us all about an ambidextrous mouse capable of recognising whether you are holding the thing with your right or your left hand. The mouse is able to work in either mode, and may even include “right handed buttons on the front side of the mouse and left handed buttons on the back side of the mouse. The user may change the handedness of the mouse by rotating the mouse about a vertical axis of the mouse such that the left hand can use the left hand buttons and the right hand can use the right hand buttons,” the patent abstract explains....

Using its clever advertising tactics, Apple began advertising its 7.9-inch iPad mini in several print magazines. As seen on the cover of the New Yorker above and TIME below, the ads highlight the device’s small, compact design and show how a user can get access to the same magazine content from Apple’s Newsstand feature. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Apple bust out advertising past the traditional TV spot this month, as it just began running 3D exploding iPod ads on several websites....

At the bottom of the screen tap on Purchased. A list of your previously purchased apps appears. Tap the cloud icon next to the app you want to download to your device. The NY Post reports: The deal is expected to fly through the MTA finance committee on Monday and the agency’s board of directors Wednesday for a final OK. At the end of the decade lease, the rent will move to more than $1M annually. Apple will also pay to refurbish the space. The 23,000-square-foot store will take up Grand Central’s north and northeast balconies, displacing Charlie Palmer’s Metrazur restaurant, according to MTA documents....

While it has been said that it’s “common knowledge” Apple is working on building an electric car, there’s still much we don’t know about the company’s plans. According to a new report from Silicon Valley Business Journal, though, Apple has been quietly purchasing and leasing a variety of buildings in Sunnyvale, California. The company is naming most buildings after Greek mythological figures, as well. One of the largest buildings is said to be codenamed “Rhea,” which lends credibility to earlier reports that have claimed the internal name for Apple’s electric car initiative is Project Titan....

Continuing with its new push to offer free content to users through its Apple Store app, Apple today started offering users a selection of free songs under a new banner promoting the upcoming iTunes Festival. The new section promoting the iTunes Festival is currently offering six free songs with the offer set to expire on October 31. You can access the free content by navigating to a specific store location within the app, but the free content is currently only available to those in the US....

Even after North Dakota senators voted down a proposal that would allow developers to offer apps outside the App Store on iOS, other US states are considering similar legislation — including Arizona. It’s now known that Apple has been lobbying against this bill in Arizona before it’s even formally introduced. As reported by Protocol (via MacRumors), Apple and Google have begun negotiating with Arizona representatives to avoid laws that would let developers bypass the App Store and Google Play in-app purchase systems....

During a session at WWDC this week, Apple detailed a notable new improvement for how developers test their applications via TestFlight… Apple announced a new feature called TestFlight Public Link, which relates to how developers invite people to test upcoming versions of their applications. Up until now, developers would have to manually invite testers using their email address. This process, Apple explained, can be cumbersome for developers who invite a lot of users to try their new app, or when dealing with people who don’t want to share their email addresses....
