Apple Store inside of a Best Buy Apple and Walmart subsidiary Sam’s Club are in early discussions to widen their already existing partnership. Sam’s Club currently sells Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod lines within its large retail chain, but the two corporate giants are looking to take their business relationship to the next level. According to sources, Apple is considering an expansion of its Apple Store-in-store program to the 47 United States retail warehouse chain....

Apple Music TV has been launched today, as a 24-hour stream of music videos and music-related content along the lines of the original MTV channel before its dilution into reality TV. Variety reports that it’s free to watch in the US. It will include ‘exclusive new music videos and premiers, special curated music video blocks, and live shows and events as well as chart countdowns and guests,’ according to the announcement…...

Apple just announced during its WWDC keynote that it’s opening up its Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the iPhone to third-party app developers. Apple showed off the personal finance management app Mint (pictured above) using the Touch ID feature to allow users to login instead of using the keyboard to enter a password. Previously Apple limited this feature to its own App Store and iTunes purchases as well as unlocking the device itself....

In an update on the developer portal today, Apple has started encouraging developers to update their apps for the new iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and iPhone XR. The company is also pushing Mac developers to submit their apps to the all-new App Store coming with macOS Mojave, and to the iOS App Store with iOS 12 features. Apple has notified members of the iTunes Affiliate program that it has opened up a new payment option for partners. Rather than sending money directly to your bank, iTunes Affiliate commissions can now instead be paid directly as iTunes Store credit. This means the payments are channeled as redemption codes to top up the credit on an Apple ID account, to buy apps, music, or pay for iCloud Storage. The affiliate program is available to registered partners and shares a small cut of iTunes content revenue with the partners, if customers buy through the special affiliate links....

Top U.S. Brands via Brand Finance According to Brand Finance, a London-based research firm, Apple is now second to Google in brand value after a 33% increase to overtake IBM, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, and GE for the first time. The firm attributes Apple’s success to “innovative design, loyal consumer base and well-executed marketing activities.” Google, sitting in the top spot with a brand value of almost $48.3 billion was up 9% among the top 30 U....

As it has done in recent years, today Apple launched a special Boxing Day sale in at least the Canadian iTunes store offering deals on select albums and songs. The sale is accessible through the iTunes store on both iOS devices and on the desktop. While Boxing Day is recognized as a holiday on Dec. 26 in Canada, retailers usually hold Boxing Week sales that last from Dec. 24 through Jan....

Apple has started testing a new way for customers to reserve battery replacements through its Support website in Canada. Meanwhile, the company is recommending for customers to call or chat with Apple Support for reservations in other regions. As spotted by MacRumors, Apple is now offering Canadian customers the option to reserve a battery replacement online, saving a trip to an Apple Store or a phone call. This comes as we’ve just heard an official statement from Apple about the DOJ and SEC launching official probes into the slowdown fiasco, with the company promising a throttling switch next month....

Patent trolls – companies that buy old patents purely to sue companies for claimed infringements – love to get their hands on very generic patents, as those give them the maximum number of possible targets. But Texas-based Corydoras Technologies LLC wins the prize for the dumbest claims yet against Apple. It is alleging, among other things, that the iPhone infringes its patents by making phone calls and sending emails …...

Earlier this year, Apple announced that it was acquiring popular digital magazine service Texture as part of its efforts to highlight quality journalism. Now, Texture has announced that it is cutting the price of its Premium tier from $14.99 to $9.99 per month… Texture made the announcement in an email to subscribers, first shared on Twitter by Harry McCracken, the company explained that no action is required on the part of the user, with the new lower price being reflected during the next billing cycle....

Now, this could be referring to any future projects Apple decides to implement, but given their purchase of land in North Carolina and planned investment of an estimated $1 billion on data center, we think this isn’t a coincidence. The data center, according to at least one report, will be used to support the sales of both the iTunes Store as well as the iPhone App Store, though other possibilities have been discussed as well....

As reported this morning, Apple officially announced a new News app as part of iOS 9. The app takes the place of Newsstand and allows users to easily view and read the news they care most about. With an interface similar to Flipboard, Apple highlights the rich typography. Apple also touts how users are prompted to pick specific topics in which they are interested and then the app propagates with content relating to those selected topics....

The Good News: (Images: Apple) Speed was a big emphasis at the announcement today. The iPhone 4S, execs said, includes a dual-core A5 processor and enhanced graphics processing circuitry. It’ll bring twice the processing power and seven times better graphics than the iPhone 4, Apple claimed. We’ll see. For enterprise customers who use Apple, the week of WWDC brought some rather shocking news. Late in the week, first-party mobile device management (MDM) solution Fleetsmith announced Apple had purchased them for an undisclosed sum. There was a bit of controversy with the purchase, as Apple immediately discontinued Fleetsmith’s App Catalog without warning. This left a lot of customers in a bind as soon as they woke up that morning....

Yes, any customer can return an iPad within 14 days regardless of the issue, so Apple is not really giving up too much in the way of leverage here....
