The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is in talks with cable television operators to use an Apple TV device as a set-top-box. Instead of Apple building their own TV show database to compete with the cable operators – as Apple has discussed with show creators in the past – this approach would simply plug cable operators to televisions via an Apple device. The report says that Apple’s plans with cable TV networks aren’t necessarily for the current Apple TV $99 box....

Shawn Blanc (via The Next Web) calculated this morning that Apple is selling 16 iPhone 4Ss a second, or roughly 1,000 a minute. Blanc’s figuring comes after Apple announced this morning that there were 4 million iPhone 4Ss sold its opening three-day weekend. Figures are also expected to expand as the iPhone 4S is introduced in 22 more countries on the 24th. Reaching this milestone, Apple is on tract to pass Microsoft’s Kinect as the fastest selling consumer device of all time....

Reuters is reporting that Apple has now received one of the two licences needed to allow it to sell the iPhone 6 in China. Apple today has quietly started a Spanish language account on Twitter for the App Store. The purpose of the new Twitter feed is to reach a broader audience when it comes to marketing and promoting applications. The account carries the username of @AppStoreES and is touted as offering “all you need to know about apps directly from the App Store editorial team.” The account has thus far shared three tweets. In addition to upgrading the iMac and iMac Pro this morning, Apple has also quietly lowered select upgrade costs. For the MacBook Air, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro, SSD upgrades are now slightly cheaper, while RAM upgrades for Mac Pro have also seen a price drop. Reuters this evening reports that Apple is investing $1 billion in Chinese ride-hailing service Didi Chuxing. In a statement, CEO Tim Cook explained that the investment will give Apple a chance to learn more about certain segments of the Chinese market, while it will also deliver a strong return. Nearly a year after Apple Music’s debut, Apple is preparing to announce its streaming music service’s first end-to-end overhaul, according to multiple sources familiar with the changes. Apple Music for Android — one of Apple’s three apps on Google’s platform — has an update today that includes fixes for both playback and sorting issues. Here’s the change log for version 0.9.11: Apple Music for Android requires 4.3 Jelly Bean and up although it’s still not compatible with tablets. The app launched back in November — replacing Beats Music — and lists a 5-10 million install base according to the Play Store despite mixed reviews averaging at 3....
