Apple has some good news for all of the Apple Music users on Android. The company has just released an update to Apple Music in the Google Play Store that allows users to download songs to an SD card so that they may store even more music for offline listening. Showcasing one of Android’s greatest strengths in the storage space is definitely an interesting move by Apple. This potentially allows users to hold more music than the current iPhones’ maximum storage size of 128GB....

Apple Music has received a few updates including a useful new ‘Coming Soon’ section that brings along expected album release dates and a pre-add feature. On Mac, Artist profiles are getting a refreshed look. First up is a handy featured section for soon to be released albums. The new Coming Soon feature is a bit buried, but is definitely a welcome change. You can find it by navigating to Browse → New Music → Coming Soon (swipe to the bottom)....

Apple has published a behind-the-scenes look at Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 studio where Apple Music’s streaming radio station is broadcasted … on Snapchat of all places. Apple snatched up the ‘applemusic’ username on Snapchat earlier this summer, and now the company is using the account to promote its subscription music service and Zane Lowe’s radio show with short videos of the DJ broadcasting. The first Snapchat Story features Apple Music branding over scenes from Apple’s recent iPhone marketing material including a drone-flyover beach clip and the skatepark scene Apple’s “Why iPhone” web page....

Apple has launched a new Apple Wallet webpage highlighting the growing number of features in the Wallet app on iPhone and Apple Watch. The company also completely redesigned the Apple Pay website, touting the benefits of Apple’s mobile payment platform. Update: Apple has also launched a new Apple Cash website today as well, as first spotted by AppleUser2000 on Twitter. On the pun-filled Apple Wallet webpage, Apple touts that the Apple Wallet app on iPhone and Apple Watch lets you store debit and credit cards, transit cards, boarding passes, and more, “all in one place....

Apple’s WWDC is set for June 4. Now, the company has begun notifying scholarship applicants of their award status. While the typical ticket price is $1599, WWDC scholarship winners receive free access to the conference and more. In addition to a free ticket, this year’s winners will enjoy free travel and hotel accommodations, as well as a one year membership to Apple’s Developer Program. WWDC 2018 will be held on June 4th through the 6th in San Jose, California....

Apple’s new under-construction 175 acre campus, now officially named Apple Park, is nearing completion ahead of an expected grand opening next month. The latest look at the site comes today via a drone flyover courtesy of Matthew Roberts (below), which shows progress made on the site in recent weeks including continued work on landscaping, solar installations, and other finishing touches. There are even signs of life at the new campus already with office chairs, tables and other equipment being set up inside…...

UK retailer John Lewis is opening a new 230,000 sq. ft. location in the Westfield London shopping center today, and on display in the giant new department store is a full display dedicated to Apple HomeKit. HouseBeautiful got a sneak peek at the setup before the doors opened to the public… Apple Stores have experimented with neat ways to simulate HomeKit demonstrations in small spaces, but the John Lewis HomeKit showcase offers customers a real hands-on experience with controlling smart home accessories with Siri and Apple’s Home app....

Apple plans to create an online retail presence in Indonesia, according to a report from NZWeek (via TNW), as well as open its first retail location in the country with a new store in the capital city, Jakarta. Confirmation of the investment comes from the country’s Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). It has approved Apple’s application to open up shop in the country, and the report claimed Apple is looking to invest $2 million to $3 million USD in the capital city of Jakarta to open its first brick-and-mortar retail location....

According to a report from Silicon Valley Business Journal, Apple has recently leased a 96,000-square-foot industrial property in Sunnyvale, California. The property was originally home to a Pepsi bottling plant, but Apple now occupies the entire space. It has widely been reported in the past that Apple is testing its Project Titan electric car initiative in Sunnyvale, with the company reportedly operating a shell company called Sixty Eight Research out of the city....

It’s not uncommon for the Apple Magic Mouse battery to die fast. Many iMac users have come forward with battery life issues. You can go through the Apple forums and threads, where the community mentions the problems and solutions. The Cupertino-based company has a dedicated research & development team. The Magic Mouse is an excellent product selling at an expensive price bracket. We are going to look at what’s causing the Magic Mouse battery and solve them....

A Texas jury has ordered Apple to pay out just under $533 million in a patent infringement case brought by Smartflash LLC regarding technology that the company said iTunes used without permission. Apple had attempted to argue that the patents were invalid. The court ruled in Smartflash’s favor, but chose not to award the entire $852 million the software maker was seeking. The patents in question were related to “data storage and managing access through payment systems,” according to Bloomberg....

Apple is opening its doors to nearby residents with an open house scheduled for December 14 at Apple Park that includes a Toys for Tots holiday drive. Spotted by Eddie Kuo, Apple started sending out the invites for the Neighborhood Open House at Apple Park with the note: Thank you for your support of our new campus. We look forward to seeing you there! The event goes from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday, December 14....

Last night Apple pulled the Developer Center offline for maintenance, but as is usually the case, no noticeable changes were visible when it came back up. As it turns out, the company was patching a very serious security breach that was discovered over the weekend, allowing anyone to access the personal contact information for every registered iOS, Mac, or Safari developer; every Apple Retail and corporate employee; and some key partners....

Apple has today opened up a new online store for active military personnel and veterans to make purchasing its products at a discount more accessible. Different from its education pricing, eligible military customers will receive 10% off Apple products, and the new discounted pricing even includes iPhones, Apple Watch, accessories, and more. Apple previously offered active military and veteran discounts in Apple Stores, but didn’t have a dedicated online store. It also mirrored the discounted education pricing, which meant no deals on products like iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV, accessories, and much more....

Apple engineers visited the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired earlier this week where the company leads its Everyone Can Code curriculum. According to Austin Satesman of Open Source, this was the first class Apple has led for blind and low-vision students. Using the built-in VoiceOver feature from iOS, students were able to complete assignments on the iPad’s Swift Playgrounds app. Students were also given the opportunity to go outside and fly Parrot drones using the Swift Playgrounds app....

Back in August, Apple decided to take legal action against a company called Prepear. Although the company has nothing to do with technology, it tried to register a pear-shaped logo — and of course, this bothered Apple. However, it seems that the two companies are coming to an agreement about that logo. Prepear is a spin-off of the Super Healthy Kids service and it offers healthy recipes and a digital grocery list through a mobile app....

Apple currently uses LCD display technology for all of its iPhones but this appears to be changing next year with the rumored radically-new iPhone in 2017, following the iPhone 7’s smaller, iterative, design changes. Many reports have said that the next-generation iPhones, dubbed ‘iPhone 8’, will feature OLED displays for the first time. More indicators for this has come to light today with Bloomberg reporting that Apple is negotiating with Sharp to produce OLED panels for its phones....

Apple News+ launched in the UK yesterday, more than six months after it did so in the US. I hadn’t been too impressed by the free offerings in Apple News and had actually removed the app from both my iPhone and iPad, but Apple News+ in the UK gave me a chance to re-evaluate it with its boosted content… The name Apple News has always been somewhat misleading. What you get in reality are some newspapers and lots of magazines....

Another report from Sports Business Daily mentions that Apple is interested in negotiating with the Pac-12 Conference for media rights deals starting in 2024. Sporting events, something lacking on many streaming services due to cable rights, would be live streamed to Apple TV+ subscribers. Currently, Apple TV+ offers a collection of original movies and TV shows purchased or produced by Apple. Live sports partnerships would be one way for Apple to help differentiate the service from the competition, as its streaming platform still has a limited catalogue compared to competing video services....
