Looks like patent day for Apple news this day, and the latest application to come to light may have a little more impact on many than some – as it appears to describe a system by which mobile carriers may be able to limit, or indeed, switch off apps and app features held on your iPhone. Apple has opened another center for app development and design, this time in Shanghai — and its first in China. Apple runs these offices in specific areas to stimulate the ‘app economy’. Participants can take classes in various parts of the app development process, including one-on-one tutorials, for free. Apple today has released four new Shot on iPhone videos, this time highlighting both the camera and microphone quality of the iPhone. Apple today is rolling out a minor update to its Apple Music app on Android. The update brings the app to version 2.1 and brings under-the-hood improvements. The update is available now on the Play Store. In the changelog, Apple simply states that the update includes minor app and performance improvements. Today’s smaller update follows a larger update back in April that marked the apps’s first major update. We recently introduced the developers at OpenClip who are attempting to create a way to copy-&-paste text between applications on an iPhone. A UBS research note seen by Business Insider says that Apple is believed to have more than 1,000 engineers working on an augmented reality project, and that the company’s first AR offering may be seen in the iPhone 8. Apple has today expanded its lyric search feature in Apple Music to several new countries. This feature lets users search for songs within Apple Music by simply typing a portion of the lyrics. Apple has signed an overall television deal with Alfonso Cuarón, renowned film director, screenwriter, and producer, according to a Variety report. An overall deal means Apple can automatically acquire the rights to anything Cuarón develops over the length of the contract.
