Fortune is out today with its annual FORTUNE 500 list ranking the largest corporations in the U.S. by revenue for fiscal 2012 (before expenditures). This year Apple, for the first time, has finally cracked the top 10 of Fortune’s list rising from its 17th place position last year to No. 6 on this year’s list. It’s still well behind Wal-Mart at No.1, as well as Exxon Mobil, which Apple happened to briefly surpass Apple’s market cap back in January to become the world’s most valuable company....
Renowned car designer Henrik Fisker is about to officially launch his new electric car company and unveiled its first vehicle, the EMotion, a $130,000 long-range premium sedan. Ahead of the launch tomorrow, some “great people” at Apple apparently got a preview of the vehicle. Apple was long-rumored to be working on its own electric and self-driving vehicle, Project Titan. Apple might have just leaked plans for a new line of Beats headphones to launch alongside the iPhone 7, according to an email that was reportedly sent out mistakenly by Apple’s Beats PR team and posted online by igen.fr. The news is the first confirmation of new headphones arriving from Apple with iPhone 7, its first device expected to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack and require wireless headphones or those using its proprietary Lightning connector....
TrendForce reports that Apple has overtaken ASUS in global laptop shipments, moving up from fifth to fourth place. The firm is also predicting that Apple’s notebooks will achieve double-digit market share this year … Apple doesn’t get all the credit for this, says TrendForce – it was partly due to ASUS deliberately reducing its own shipments. Apple plans to launch the iBookstore in Brazil ahead of its media event tomorrow, according to a new report by BlogDoiPhone (translated). The store is not currently live (update below), but screenshots of its existence are above and below. BlogDoiPhone noted a few books have begun to appear in Brazilian Portuguese when doing a search. “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams, for instance, now has a live link....
Nearly a year ago, it was reported that Apple was planning a new flagship retail location in Paris on Champs-Élysées. Now, French news site Mac4Ever has uncovered Apple’s building permit for the location, further confirming the company’s plans to open the store… The permit, dated December 20th, 2016, doesn’t offer additional details for the Champs-Élysées location, but it does confirm that Apple is moving forward with its plans. Last year, it was reported that Apple had secured a lease for a 20,341-square-feet seven story building at 114 Avenue des Champs-Élysées, using the lower levels as retail and space and the upper levels for office space....
When Apple first introduced its new iMacs that began shipping to customers in November and December of last year, it confirmed the new models would not include support for VESA mounts like earlier models. Users of previous generation iMacs were able to buy and install a mount using the Video Electronics Standards Association standard to attach the product to a wall or other surface. It looks like Apple has now finally come up with a solution for the new super-slim iMacs by offering a $40 built-to-order option that will replace the iMac’s stand with a built-in VESA mount adapter....

It looks like Apple is running another “Lose Your Wallet” shopping event, encouraging users to use the company’s Apple Pay mobile payment service by offering discounts at select stores. The event previously ran in June of 2017, in San Fransisco. This time, it’s being held in Los Angeles. There will be discounts at 14 retailers in Westwood, with 20 in Abbot Kinney, running from March 1 through March 23. Merchants will be offering deep discounts ranging from 10-50% off merchandise, with certain retailers offering special offers or gifts with your purchase....
Apple has identified an issue affecting some Apple Watch Series 3 models resulting in a row of several visible stripe markings along the side of the watch’s display. We’ve learned Apple has recently informed its retail and authorized third-party repair staff of the issue that it says is affecting some Apple Watch Series 3 GPS models. Apple today has launched a new repair program for iPhone 6 Plus users affected by the widely reported on “Touch Disease” hardware flaw. This flaw centers around an iPhone’s display becoming unresponsive and displaying a thin gray flickering line along the top. As part of the new repair program, Apple will repair affected devices for a flat service price of $149. Apple writes on its website that it has determined that “some” iPhone 6 Plus units are plagued by the problem....
There have been a number of amusing cases where Android smartphone makers or their brand ambassadors have tweeted using Twitter for iPhone, but the official Apple Music account has now managed to do the opposite: tweet from an Android device … The @AppleMusic account responded to a tweet from Ariana Grande about her Christmas & Chill album. Robin Burrowes, the person in charge of Xbox Live marketing in the EMEA region, left Microsoft for Apple and is now charged with heading the App Store marketing initiatives for iTunes Europe. Burrowes led Xbox Live marketing for seven years and were responsible for product, business and marketing management as well as planning, strategy and leadership of Xbox Live across regions, according to his LinkedIn profile.
